Reda Aboutajdine, PhD

Financial Sector Economist at the World Bank

I am a Financial Sector Economist at the World Bank, based in Washington D.C..

I am involved in projects where finance and climate change interact. This interaction can be one where the financial system is threatened by climate change (e.g., climate and transition risks for the banking sector), or can involve finance as a tool to counteract climate change impacts through mitigation (e.g., green taxonomies) or adaptation (e.g., disaster risk financing). I have worked in several countries such as Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Malawi, Morocco, Niger and Tunisia. Lately, I have been focusing on the MENA region.

Before that, I was a Ph.D candidate in economics at Ecole Polytechnique and CREST. My doctoral research focused on Insurance Fraud, with an interest in the analysis and measurement of fraudulent behavior and its determinants, and in the design of adequate detection and auditing approaches.
